News from Dokas

Our dedication has been recognised

“The Good Rabbit” distinguishes companies that use or commit themselves to more species-appropriate husbandry systems. Compassion in world farming has made Dokas the first animal feed company to receive an award for its efforts to ensure species-appropriate rabbit husbandry.

New employee

A new employee joined the DOKAS team in the product tasting department in May. His name is Mr. Schröder, but he also answers to ‘Schrödi’. He was born on 14/02/2021, and is a cross between a chihuahua and a toy poodle. Schrödi adores his larger colleagues, both four-legged and two-legged, and is ecstatic when he greets his friends. He leaves the building very reluctantly at the end of the day, pulling on his lead. This is definitely not due to his ‘mum’s’ driving style, but rather to his exciting work as a product tester, which he carries out with great enthusiasm! Tomorrow is another day...

Top dogs

Sir James is a therapy companion dog and regularly accompanies his owner, Felicitas, a teacher at a secondary school in Carinthia, into the classroom. As a friend, learning assistant and often a comfort to the soul, he is helping students to gradually find their way back into the routines and structures that have been lost in many areas of our lives during the turbulent Covid-19 pandemic of recent months. He is now a great support to the children in class 1 and, in particular, helps with reading and social learning skills.

We think this outstanding dedication to duty deserves a ‘reward’. And we know precisely how to reward him! It goes without saying that we’re happy that our snacks are helping their heart-warming project.

A Symbiosis

…is widely referred to in biology as “the interaction of at least two individuals. They interact with each other and benefit from each other in the community.

This symbolically describes our partnership with the Perdita Lübbe Dog Academy. We are united by the joy of the relationship between humans and animals, as well as respectful cooperation. So it is obvious that this alliance is a win-win for everyone.

We can make a contribution to Perdita Lübbe’s passion project “Start ins neue Leben” (Start of a new life), which she launched in 2015 in order to rehabilitate and give a “forever home” to dogs that are showing signs of behavioural problems.

Perdita and her team of experienced dog trainers provide us with insights and know-how for the creation of our snacks - because life with dogs is colourful and the needs of our four-legged friends and their owners are different and it is important for us to have an ear to the ground.

The specialists

DLRG-Ortsgruppe Ahaus e. V. - Rescue dog team

DLRG rescue dog teams, the specialists for the search for missing persons on & in the water and on land!

The DLRG rescue dogs are trained to search for and find people in different environments. The speciality is searching poorly accessible shore areas. With the specially trained water detection dogs, it is possible to locate drowned persons both on land in the area of the shore and from a boat up to a water depth of approx. 50 m, which can then be recovered by the emergency divers. The dogs are specially trained to work in the water and to operate with different types of boats. You can find much more information and areas of operation of the rescue dog team here.

DOKAS supports the rescue dog team of the DLRG local group Ahaus e.V. by providing our dog snacks free of charge.
